Reed Willis is an experienced athletic administrator and educational leader, currently serving as Athletic Advisor for Memphis-Shelby County Schools’ Athletics Office, a role he has held since November 2020. In this capacity, he supports the development and oversight of athletic programs across the district, helping to ensure operational excellence, student-athlete success, and alignment with district academic and athletic policies. He also led the development of a mentorship program designed to support and grow athletic directors across the district, strengthening leadership capacity and program effectiveness systemwide.
Prior to this role, Reed served as Athletic Director at Middle College High School in Memphis, where he managed all aspects of the school’s athletic programs. In addition to his administrative leadership, he coached multiple sports, including baseball, golf, and football. As head baseball coach, he led his teams to multiple district and region championships. He also taught art, reflecting his commitment to well-rounded student development. Throughout his career, Reed has emphasized the development and mentorship of coaches, student-athletes, and athletic administrators, fostering a culture of growth, accountability, and excellence.
In 2019, Reed was honored with the TSSAA A.F. Bridges Athletic Director of the Year Award, recognizing his outstanding leadership and contributions to interscholastic athletics.
Reed holds a master’s degree in Sports Administration from Arkansas State University and earned the NIAAA Certified Athletic Administrator distinction in 2019. He brings deep expertise in athletic program management, leadership development, and student engagement, and is committed to advancing opportunities for student-athletes, coaches, and athletics administrators while strengthening the role of athletics within the educational experience.
In his home life, Reed and his wife Mary Margaret are committed to supporting and raising children through foster care.
