Region 1: Randy Rogers, CAA
Randy Rogers has been the Assistant Principal and Athletic Director at Jefferson County High School since 2012. Randy’s educational career began at Jefferson Middle School where he taught 6th and 7th grade Social Studies from 1997-2004. During his time at Jefferson Middle, he coached middle school basketball (boys and girls), high school baseball, freshman basketball at Jefferson County High School, and high school baseball at Knoxville Central High School. From 2004-2012, Randy served as a 7th grade teacher at West View Middle School and also coached football and golf. While at West View, he began umpiring college baseball becoming a member of the Southern Conference, Atlantic Sun Conference, and the Ohio Valley Conference umpiring staffs.
Randy is a native of Springfield, Ohio and a 1992 graduate of Springfield North High School. His passion for athletics started at an early age. He grew up playing soccer, tennis, golf, basketball and baseball. He traveled the United States at an early age and would eventually played for, WBLY, a traveling Connie Mack Baseball team. This team was coached by his dad, Roy and godfather, Bob Pyle. Roy is a member of the Clark County Baseball Hall of Fame and Bob is a member of both the Clark County Baseball Hall of Fame and the Ohio Baseball Coaches Hall of Fame. Randy’s whole family (dad, mom, older brother and older sister) had roles with this team from 1970-1994. It was from this experience that Randy developed a passion for athletics.
He continued his education Carson Newman College, where he was a 4-year starter on the baseball team and would earn All-South Atlantic Conference Baseball player as catcher in 1997. He earned his B.A. degree in History (1996) and a Master’s of Education (1999) from Carson Newman College. He earned his Ed.S. in Educational Administration from Lincoln Memorial University in 2003.
Rogers is currently the Assistant Principal and Athletic Director at Jefferson County High School. As Athletic Director, Randy has helped with school wide renovations, worked with coaches and other county officials to improve athletic facilities, and works with the 4 middle schools and their athletic directors. During his tenure Jefferson County has added Elementary School Basketball, Middle School Baseball and Middle School Soccer teams. He has served as the President of the Inter Mountain Athletic Conference since 2013. He has been a member of the Tennessee Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association and National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association since 2014. He has been on the TIAAA Board of Directors (Region 1) since 2016. He served on the host committee for the National Athletic Director’s Conference, which was held in Nashville in 2016. Rogers was named Tennessee Athletic Director of the Year from the TIAAA and earned his Certified Athletic Administrator license from the NIAAA in 2016. He is currently serving at the NIAAA/TIAAA State’s Awards Chairpersons for Tennessee.
Randy’s wife, Angie, is a former middle and high school basketball coach and is currently an assistant principal at Maury Middle School. They have three boys: Nolan, Jacob, and Maddux. When not working Randy and Angie love watching their children on the basketball courts or baseball fields.
