Marketing Chair: Corby Lucas, CMAA
Corby Lucas is a native of central Pennsylvania and a 1993 graduate of Penns Valley Area High School. He continued his education at Franklin and Marshall College in Lancaster, PA where he earned his BA in History in 1997 and was a three-year starter
and all-conference wide receiver on the football team. While at F&M, Corby realized his passion for athletics and teaching and pursued a career in education.
Corby began his professional career at St. Andrew’s-Sewanee School in Sewanee, TN where he served for five years as an eleventh grade American history teacher and football and wrestling coach. He continued his career by accepting a middle school history position at Savannah Country Day School in Savannah, GA in 2002 where he taught middle school American History and coached football, wrestling and track and field. While at Country Day, Corby also spent time in athletic administration as an Assistant Athletic Director and served as the middle school history department head.
In 2008, Corby and his wife relocated to Nashville to be closer to family. He is currently in his eighth year as the Director of Athletics at Harding Academy in Nashville, TN. He also holds the positions of head football and wrestling coach for Harding. He is a middle school advisor and serves on the school’s leadership team. Corby has created a student athletic leadership council and is responsible for several facility upgrades during his time at Harding.
Lucas also serves in other leadership capacities outside of Harding. He is the Co-Chair of the Board of the Harpeth Valley Athletic Conference (HVAC), a middle school conference composed of twelve permanent members and an additional seven provisional members. He has served as the girls lacrosse commissioner and tournament director the past seven years as well as the wrestling commissioner for the HVAC. He is also working toward designing and creating an athletic director’s consortium geared specifically for middle school athletic directors with a target date in the fall of 2017.
Corby earned his Certified Master Athletic Administrator designation from the National
Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association in April of 2016. He has been actively involved at the national and state level attending the past six national and state conferences while also serving to moderate and facilitate conference workshops. Corby just recently served on the National Host Committee for the 2016 National Athletic Director’s Conference held at the Opryland Hotel in Nashville. He will be entering Vanderbilt’s Peabody College in the summer of 2018 to pursue a Master’s Degree in Independent School Leadership.
